3 Tips for Minimalist Packing

July 26, 2016 By Uncoveries

Packing for travel used to be a big ordeal.

Luggage space was a precious resource, even for a weekend trip. With my luggage stretched at the seams, I’d pack three to four times more clothing than I’d need. The luggage was carry-on sized, but it’d feel as if there were also several large bricks packed inside.

It was embarrassing—getting on the plane with my overstuffed carry-on. My upper body strength wasn’t as strong back then, so I’d dread the task of putting my bag in the overhead container. Often I’d be unable to lift my luggage without assistance from someone. The anticipation was a downside to the otherwise fun parts of travel.

Embracing A Life of Experience and Freedom

It’s only human. I still have moments when I breathe deeply, reminding myself to physically and mentally calm down. I tell myself I will make the best decision when the actual fork in the road presents itself – not one I’ve fabricated in my internal reality. The serendipitous quality of life happens when you open yourself up; it generally works out even when it doesn’t seem like it at the time.

Re-thinking the Too Weak Vacation

February 9, 2013 By Uncoveries

I was in a bit of internal turmoil after coming back from a two week vacation.

The two weeks were a great chunk of time to disconnect and enjoy simply living life: not worrying about problems at work, upcoming deadlines, items on the to-do list. We thought the days would speed by, much like it does in our normal 5-day work weeks.

Instead, we found time is much more expansive when it’s not routinized. Halfway through the vacation on our way from Taiwan to Hawaii, it seemed unreal there was still another week left.

But come to an end, it did.
