Do you have a feeling you might be disconnected from yourself?
The idea of being disconnected from yourself may seem odd. After all, you are (hopefully) in one piece and able to function, complete tasks and get through your day.
But perhaps an inner part of you is crying out in response that question.
Maybe you sense there is much more to learn about yourself than you currently know. You may feel like you’re being held back in some way, seemingly unable to move forward or make any significant progress in your life.
If you’re confused with what direction to take, overwhelmed by clutter in your life, or feel incompleteness within, you’re likely disconnected in some way. Even those who know where they’re headed experience greater results from a stronger connection.
All of us could benefit from a stronger connection within.
A strong connection with your core self results in a better understanding of yourself and greater clarity on what you really want in life. Through that connection, you’re able to access the underlying source of what interests and drives you forward with purpose and joy, in spite of any challenges.
There’s generally greater inner knowing, confidence, enjoyment, enthusiasm, curiosity, learning, growth, and creative output when you have a strong connection with your core self.
For many people, there are external and internal blocks clogging up our ability to connect.
These blocks often layer up over the years from childhood, major events, and from our environment. From well-meaning parents, clueless authority figures, disappointing experiences, embarrassing situations, influential communities or media programming—there are many influences.
The blocks could be limiting beliefs, unproductive thought patterns or behaviors. For some, it’s a lack of attention, care, and awareness of their own body—the greatest asset each person has in their life journey. For others, it’s the uninspiring or stressful environment they are in almost every day of the week.
Any external or internal influences not beneficial to your well being will eventually turn into a block when unaddressed. Some are so automatic, taken for granted, or cleverly hidden, you may not even realize the impact they have.
Everything is far more connected than you may realize.
Uncovering these blocks will most likely take time and patience. For some people, they may need some help and support along the way. However, the process of uncovering will not be as successful if you don’t have an existing foundation.
In my next article, I’ll share 5 tips on getting the foundation you need before you’ll be able to establish a deeper connection with yourself.
